In Columbus Ohio on December 8, 2004, Nathan Gale, rushed onto the stage as Damageplan played the first song of its setlist, shooting the guitarist, Dimebag Darrel Abbott, formerly of the band, Pantera, multiple times.
Three other people would die that night at the hands of Nathan Gsle: The band's head of security, Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, a fan, Nathan Bray, and Erin Halk, an employee of the venue. Three others were wounded that night. The gunman, Nathan Gale was killed by police officer, James Niggemeyer entered the club and shot Gale once in the head with a 12-gauge Remington Model 870,
